happy, healthy, active

Salmon Skatepark Association is working to create a high quality, modern skatepark in Salmon, Idaho to provide a safe, family-oriented, inclusive, free-to-use sports facility to increase resilience and connection in our community.

A passion for community

Salmon, Idaho is a one-of-a-kind place to live with a wild river cutting through the town and mountains standing guard in almost all directions. Not only is Salmon home to incredible wildlife and breathtaking views, but also boasts an amazing community. The people here work hard but also play hard. We pride ourselves in our town and the surrounding areas. The community of Salmon is generous and kind. Living in such an isolated community has many advantages but as with anything, there are disadvantages too.

One disadvantage is that the kids in town can’t travel easily to other communities. In Salmon, there are many youths interested in skateboarding, rollerblading, and bike riding but they don’t have a safe place in town to explore these interests, as our current skatepark is in disrepair. The cement is crumbling and cracking. Parts of the current skatepark are even unusable and dangerous. Unfortunately, we are unable to rebuild at the current location due to its proximity to the river, as modern skateparks require digging at least 12 feet into the earth.

The Salmon Skatepark Association is working hard to change that. Our local youth deserve a safe place to be healthy and active. Skateboarding is one of the most popular activities for teens and became an Olympic sport in 2020. Additionally, it is one of the least cost-prohibitive sports for youth to partake in.

We are in Phase 1 of our plan to build a new skatepark for our community. We are working with the City Council, who we have entered into a land agreement with, at the Salmon City Park. The next step towards building a modern skatepark is to have a Geotech survey conducted, valued at $4,400. Please consider making a tax-exempt donation to the Salmon Skatepark Association allowing us to have a Geotech survey conducted, moving us forward to provide our community with a modern, free-to-use, safe sports facility for our local youth to enjoy for years to come.
